The purpose of the visit was to do an on-the-spot check on the work progress of the Mwomboshi Irrigation Scheme construction. The President also took time to appreciate the Mwomboshi Dam which at the time was spilling. The President was elated by not only the workmanship of the works but also the rate at which works were being undertaken by the Contractor, and as a result, the President donated two (02) tractors to the Mwomboshi Community Land Trust (CLT).
At the time of the visit, the completion rate was estimated at over 90 percent with the installation and energising of electric power transformers being the only outstanding works. Meanwhile the National Project Coordinator (Eng. Daniel Chamba) assured the President that all works at Mwomboshi Irrigation Scheme would be completed and be ready for handover by June 2021.
